Your POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The wind made the trees bend in the empty yard of the Nazareth House, causing the windows to shake and rattle as the wind howled outside. _____ stared longingly out the window in the room she shared with nine other girls. She had been there for what felt like forever, when she knew it was only a few days. Not that it was any better than where she had been coming from...at least her parents left her be for days on end, rather than the constant abuse from the nuns here in the 'Hell of Nazareth' or at least that's what she heard the older girl's calling it.
_____ tucks a lock of (H/C) hair behind her hair, biting her lower lip as she slowly moves away from the window. She knew that Sister Laurence hated it when they stood in the window too long. _____ wraps her small arms around her torso walking out the door and to the back garden where most girls would play or participate in classes that the nuns taught. Luckily for her, classes were long over for the day and she was able to relax and play with the other girls...not that _____ ever did that. She always preferred being on her own, for her whole life, even as a seven year old she knew that the world was cold and it wasn't smart to trust anyone.
"_____!"
_____ turned at the sound of her name, blinking in slight surprise upon seeing the little girl who had been behind her in line the other day. She smiles as the little girl runs up to her, wrapping her pudgy little chocolate colored arms around _____'s waist.
"Where did you go? I haven't see you for days!"
"I haven't been feeling well...so I haven't left my room," _____ said, smiling sheepishly.
"Oh. I'm glad you feel better!"
______ was about to answer before the sound of tires screeching on the concrete could be heard from the front lawn, interrupting her. She looks towards the direction of the front gate in surprise, she didn't know people actually came to the Nazareth house.
"Possible adopters are here! To your rooms!" Sister Laurence's voice sounded as gruff as it always did as _____ and the other girls ran inside and to their rooms, though _____ couldn't help but sneak by in the crowd to the front parlor, hiding behind the large grandfather clock. Her eyes shone with curiosity as she watched as a nun walked into the parlor followed by two men. One was tall and scary looking, just the sight of him made a shiver run up the small girl's spine as she hid farther behind the clock. He had messy blonde hair and a shaggy beard. He had a cigarette in his mouth, though it wasn't lit because it was against the rules to smoke inside, not that anyone but Sister Laurence smoked. The other male was a lot shorter and had pink hair. _____ had to suppress a giggle as she watched him skip beside the scary man happily. He was like a little kid...or a puppy. He had bright blue eyes and a big smile. He also wore funny clothes with lots of pink.
"I will let you know that all the girls here are very well behaved and know how to follow direction. They are all in their rooms at the moment. If you would like I can bring a few down for you to meet."
_____ watches as the nun led them to another room, though the tall scary man stopped before walking in.
"I'm going to have a smoke. You go on, Oliver."
The young girl's eyes widen, she had never heard anyone talk like that before. He had a strange accent, though it somehow made his gruff voice less intimidating. She watched as the pink haired man nodded, skipping into the room with the nun. Once the room was empty, save for _____ and the man, he began to walk over to the grandfather clock that the small girl was hiding behind. She gasps, covering her mouth as she tries to squeeze in between the clock and the wall some more so he wouldn't see her. Though it was too late, (E/C) eyes met the light bluish purple of his as he kneels down, pulling the cigarette from his mouth.
".....You aren't supposed to be out here...are you kid?"
She hesitates before shaking her head, looking down at her hands nervously.
Francis's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She was tiny. That was his only thought when he saw the girl behind the grandfather clock. She had big (E/C) eyes and (H/L) (H/C) hair. She was plain and a bit dingy. She had his attention, mainly because the nun was now going on and on about how well behaved the girls were...though if they were supposed to be in their rooms, then not all of them were as obedient as she was going on about. He looked down at Oliver, watching as the small man listened to the woman's words as if she was telling him something that was actually interesting. Francis frowns.
"I'm going to have a smoke. You go on, Oliver."
Francis quickly excused himself, waiting until the two were out of the room before walking over to the small girl, kneeling down in front of her. He noticed her try to shrink away from his sight, which only caused him to have to fight the urge of rolling his eyes. He takes the unlit cigarette out of his mouth, since the damned nun lady said he couldn't smoke, which he thought was fucking stupid.
"You're not supposed to be here...are you, kid?"
He watched as she shook her head, looking down at her little hands. He frowns as he presses his finger against her forehead, pushing her head up, causing her to look up at him.
"Answer me, kid."
The small girl hesitated before speaking softly, "N-no...I'm not."
"Then why are you?" He frowns.
"Because I wanted to see who you were."
He raises an eyebrow before sighing. Maybe if he took this girl into Oliver he would choose her and they could just go home.
"Wanna come home with me?"
